Bi-component balanced waterproof breathable systems are the most effective systems on the market. Hydrophilic systems do not transport perspiration vapor, but only the liquid perspiration formed when the vapor condenses. Microporous hydrophobic systems transport vapor, but do not transport condensed perspiration. By using a Bi-Component System that uses both hydrophilic and hydrophobic microporous elements, we have developed the most balanced, most effective and most versatile waterproof system available.
The monolithic barrier membrane has no holes and protects from the wind and will not clog with dirt, detergent, perspiration or seawater.
For our hydrophilic laminates, we use combinations of mostly hydrophilic amino acids we call auxiliary ingredients. These auxiliary ingredients allow the surface of the laminate to have a charged surface. By charging the surface we allow the laminate to absorb moisture generated by perspiration and perspiration vapor condensation (dew condensation).
Eclipse Barrier/Tech has a superior adhesion between membrane and base fabrics so that it retains peak performance even after perspiration build up and repeated washings. Also, it has a water resistance of up to 30,000mm, allowing the wearer to cope with almost any weather.
Eclipse Barrier/Fleece has a non-porous film that has no holes. Other products (such as PTFE membranes or coated fabrics) have millions of tiny holes that allow moisture vapor to pass through. Eclipse Barrier/Fleece achieves moisture vapor transmission by a totally different principle. Our hydrophilic film uses a charged surface to absorb and transport moisture and moisture vapor.
Eclipse MFD is a new generation of moisture-permeable and waterproof fabric that has innovative features that use microfibre technology and extra high-density fabric weaving technology. Woven to extremely high density, the extra fine fibers give Eclipse MFD remarkable strength, allowing it to withstand water pressure of more than 1,000 mm.
This super durable waterproof application has a rating of 80 using the Water Repellency Spray Method, even after over 100 repeated washings! This newly developed DWR technology uses a water repellent agent and a collateral process technology that densely aligns water repellent groups and bonding them firmly to the nylon fabric.
